"Sergio is the right driver to partner Max for 2021"- Red Bull announces Sergio Perez in 2021 lineup

“Sergio is the right driver to partner Max for 2021”- Red Bull announces Sergio Perez for the 2021 lineup, demoting Alex Albon in reserves.

The heated speculations of Sergio Perez to Red Bull has finally come to a conclusion, as Red Bull on Friday on its official website confirmed that the Mexican driver will be lining up with Max Verstappen for 2021.

The announcement came a day after when several news organizations near to Red Bull flared up the rumours claiming Perez will be announced by Red Bull soon.

Red Bull Racing Team Principal, Christian Horner, said: “Alex is a valued member of the Team and we thought long and hard about this decision.”

“Having taken our time to evaluate all the relevant data and performances we have decided that Sergio is the right driver to partner Max for 2021 and look forward to welcoming him to Red Bull Racing.

Alex Albon to remain in the system

Whereas, Red Bull boss has also affirmed Albon’s much speculated demotion as a reserve driver in Red Bull while stating that the Thai born driver is an essential part of the system.

“Alex remains an important part of our Team as Test and Reserve Driver with a key focus on 2022 development and we would like to thank him for his hard work and contribution.”

Sergio Perez’s aspiration came true

Perez during the last few races expressed that offers from teams like Haas and Williams will be rejected by him and it is either Red Bull or nothing for him in F1 for 2021.

“I am incredibly grateful to Red Bull for giving me the opportunity to race for Red Bull Racing in 2021. The chance to race for a championship contending team is something I have been hoping for since I joined Formula One and it will be a proud moment to step onto the grid in Red Bull colours alongside Max,” said Sergio Perez.
“You can be sure that I will give next season my full focus. The Team has the same winning mentality as me and I know I am here to perform and help the Team fight for another title.”
