Charles Leclerc is a man of many talents. Apart from being a spectacular Formula 1 driver, the Monegasque has also delved into the world of music. Leclerc is now using his musical skill set against two-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen.
Leclerc started exploring the world of music during the Covid lockdown, utilizing his time away from the sport to sharpen his piano skills. Soon after, he started composing his own pieces and began sharing them with his fans on social media. Being one of the most popular F1 stars, his music turned out to be an instant hit among his fans.
Upon noticing the positive response, Leclerc went one step further and started publishing his songs on other platforms. So far, he has released two pieces, AUS23 (1:1), which was released ahead of the Australian GP weekend, and MIA23 (1:2), which was released ahead of the Miami GP. Leclerc has managed to conjure up more than 5,000,000 listeners on Spotify – no mean feat for a part-time musician.
Charles Leclerc makes a promise to his Austrian fans
Charles Leclerc recently made a beautiful promise during the Austrian GP weekend – something that will be widely appreciated by his Austrian fans. While talking to Austrian news portal ORF, Leclerc promised to learn the Austrian national anthem on the piano, if he becomes a world champion in the future.
Leclerc said, “If I become a F1 world champion, I will then learn the Austrian national anthem on the piano. For sure. No problem.” However, he took caution and said that maybe the piece would be too difficult for his current skill level, but he would try his best to learn it.
Charles also made a promise to ORF to learn the Austrian national anthem on the piano if he becomes world champion.

This puts Verstappen in an awkward position because despite driving for Red Bull – a team from Austria, Verstappen will not be able to replicate Leclerc’s promise to the fans. Another aspect that Verstappen would be worried about is the fact that if Leclerc has to fulfill his promise, the Monegasque will have to take the championship away from Verstappen.
However, as things stand due to Red Bull’s dominance, Leclerc is nowhere close to taking the throne away from Verstappen.
Verstappen and Leclerc’s long-standing rivalry
Over the last few years, Verstappen and Leclerc have renewed their old rivalry, something that stems from their karting days. Both of them made their mark in Formula 1 as soon as they stepped into the top series of motorsports. Both Verstappen and Leclerc are considered to be among the best F1 drivers on the grid today.
Leclerc also spoke about his rivalry with Verstappen. When asked if it was getting better or worse, Leclerc instantly replied that their battles are getting better. “It is much better than when we were younger. But it is also very different,” said Leclerc.
Is your rivalry with Max getting better or worse?
Charles: “It is much better than when we were younger. But it is also very different. When we were young, we hated each other (laughs). We had quite a lot of incidents on track. And that was not helping.” pic.twitter.com/ZAyC8Z7uzO

However, Leclerc also explained that both of them were at very different phases in their career. “We both realized our dream which was to become an F1 driver. He realized his dream of being a F1 world champion. I am still chasing my dream to become a F1 champion.”
It won’t be easy for Leclerc to compete against Verstappen given how his team is performing at the moment. However, Leclerc will definitely hold on to his dream and try harder.
