"This is disappointing"- Lewis Hamilton reacts to Mario Andretti's comments calling him pretentious and militant

“This is disappointing” – Lewis Hamilton drops his response on Mario Andretti’s comments against Mercedes driver regarding the BLM movement.

On Friday, Mario Andretti created a huge controversy after calling Lewis Hamilton pretentious regarding the latter’s involvement in the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.

“I respect Lewis very much, but why become a militant? He has always been accepted and earned the respect of the whole world. I think the goal of this is pretentious.

“So I feel it and he is creating a problem that does not exist”, said the last American world champion in the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.

“Painting your car black I don’t know what it will do. I have met drivers of different origins, races, and I have always welcomed them with open arms. In motorsports, no matter the color, you have to earn your place with results and that is what same for all.”

Hamilton after the Hungarian GP race made his response on his social media, over where the British driver criticized not only Andretti but also people who speak on similar lines.

“This is disappointing but unfortunately a reality that some of the older generations who still have a voice today cannot get out of their own way and acknowledge there is a problem,”

“Again, this is plain ignorance but that will not stop me from continuing to push for change. It’s never too late to learn and I hope that this man who I’ve always had respect for can take the time to educate himself,” said Hamilton on his Instagram.

Formula 1 fraternity has been supportive of Hamilton’s cause but isn’t fully invested in it. During the Austrian Grand Prix, all the drivers took a knee to show solidarity support to the BLM movement except few who still stood right beside the rest.
