Max Verstappen talks about how street circuits are different from race tracks. Moreover, he also fails to acknowledge his close competition with Sergio Perez on these street racing circuits.
The two times world champion did cement his legacy as an all-time great by breaking the record for most wins in a season. Michael Schumacher previously held this record, with only Sebastian Vettel coming close.
The 2022 season did not really have a close battle between the Red Bull teammates. Initially, it was close, but then Max Verstappen drove at such a pace that no one could catch him until the end of the season.
Max Verstappen’s hesitation toward Sergio Perez regarding the street circuit
During an interview with the F1 Talk show, Max Verstappen spoke about street circuits. According to him, cars are much stiffer than older ones, and it is difficult to drive around them.
He does not acknowledge Sergio Perez’s driving in street circuits and expresses that it is more about the competition than the team. The 2022 car was also overweight, which made it much more difficult for him.
With Daniel Ricciardo in the mix, Perez will be looking to drive closer to Verstappen competing for the 2023 title. As a proven winner, he has to set realistic expectations with the Dutch international.

How do street circuits differ from traditional racing circuits?
Formula One street circuits are much different in comparison to traditional race circuits. They are made out of a part of the street and are not originally kept for racing.
In the 2022 season calendar, there are 7 street circuits that did not fail to disappoint. The traditional Circuit de Monaco to the new Miami International Autodrome. Others include Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Albert Park to the upcoming Las Vegas Street circuit.
Speaking about the statistics of the 2022 season, Max Verstappen secured five victories or at least podium places. He had one of the greatest-ever Formula One seasons with no competitors on the back of his tail.
