"We are Counting Down the Days to Imola": Lewis Hamilton Admits Whole Mercedes Team is Waiting for James Allison' Updates

In the very first month of the season, rumors appeared that James Allison was marking his return at Mercedes, which now have proved true. It was also reported that he’d bring in some upgrades, which would be installed in Imola. This information has now been confirmed by Lewis Hamilton, who claims the entire garage is waiting for the Emila Romagna Grand Prix.

Mercedes is not the fastest team on the grid, even a top three based on the pace is doubtful. Therefore, to boost their chances, Mercedes has scheduled some developments, and as per Hamilton, they will undoubtedly make a massive step in Imola.

“I think we knew from the beginning that we would have a lot of races until this update, so we are counting down the days to Imola,” he said in a statement published by the Total Motorsport website.

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t know how good the updates will be

Amidst the excitement around Imola updates, seven-time world champion Hamilton claims he doesn’t know how good the updates will be. But he knows that it would start something new for his team.

Indeed, the upgrades are not being brought in view of toppling Red Bull from the top. Instead, they will probably be introduced so that the Silver Arrows could gain an edge over Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Meanwhile, Mercedes has shown some improvements in April. Lewis Hamilton’s podium in Melbourne is a big testimony to that. Though, they wouldn’t be satisfied with the results from Azerbaijan after a strong exhibition in Australia.

Miami should be better

This coming weekend, Formula 1 is flying to Miami. Last year, Mercedes had a lousy outing over there because of how badly the W13 performed by the team’s standards.

But now, Hamilton believes Mercedes has a comparatively better can than last year. So, he hopes for a good race for his team in the upcoming Grand Prix, as he thinks it’s a fast track and could suit the W14.

Though, he rules out the question of defeating Red Bull. But he is hoping Mercedes could beat Ferrari and Aston Martin. The Mercedes star could only hope for a better outing.
