Formula 1 is one of the most competitive sports in the world. And even though it is the various rivalries across the grid that make headlines, there is also a lot of brotherly love to be found on the grid. One of the most famous examples would be the duo of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris – lovingly known as Carlando.
Norris‘ friends at Quadrant paid tribute to the bromance between the two and pulled a joke on him in their latest video, that left everyone wheezing with laughter.
Quadrant recently uploaded a new video on their youtube channel where the five members were seen playing a Formula 1 version of Gartic Phone. Gartic Phone is an online game that was created by mixing two games together – Pictionary and the Telephone Whispering game.
To make it simple, the basic rules of the game involve one player providing a sentence or a prompt based on which another player has to draw it. The next player will then try to guess what the original prompt was, based on the drawings, and draw their own version of the same.
Quadrant jokes about Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz
Quadrant were playing a Formula 1 version of this game where some of the prompts were “Toto throwing a table in the air at FIA Meeting” and “Kym Illman taking a pic of Lando eating a huge cookie.” However, things got even more funny when Max Fewtrell was tasked with drawing, “Lando twerking on Carlos.” He immediately screamed out that he won’t be able to draw it.
Fewtrell ended up doing a pretty good job with the drawing, as he pointed out Norris and Sainz with their racing numbers 4 and 55. He even drew Sainz saying “Ai Ai Ai”. Norris broke into laughter when he was tasked with identifying what the drawing was about.
He commented, “Why am I so flexible? Why am I twerking on Carlos?” with a huge grin. This led to the other members breaking out into laughter.
It was later revealed in the video that it was Ria who came up with the prompt. However, Norris was so busy laughing that he ran out of time and could only manage to write ‘Lando’ based on the picture.
The Carlando Story
The Carlando bromance started off when the duo was teammates at McLaren in 2019 and 2020. The chemistry between them really entertained the fans as both of them were seen having fun with each other off the track.
However, Sainz had his dream to move to Ferrari in 2021 and, as fate had it, McLaren and Ferrari ended up being prime rivals in the 2021 Formula 1 season. Both the teams were fighting for the 3rd spot in the Constructor’s Championship.

Norris has claimed that their distance hasn’t had much effect on their relationship. In an interview, the young Brit said, “We still speak to each other every now and then. I guess maybe not as often or as closely as we were [in the] past couple of years. But no, we’re still mates, we still got along.”
Norris also revealed that they spent time with each other away from the track, mostly playing golf. “I guess we just don’t spend as much time together, but we still play golf and we still have that competitive side of us,” said Norris.
Therefore, it is clear that even though the once-best friends are on different teams right now, their bromance is still pretty much alive.
