F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton was losing to his brother Nicolas in sim racing. The brothers were racing against each other in Monza, playing the F1 2010 game for a BBC special. And then, the F1 superstar showed that he could be a cheat even if his brother is succeeding against him.
While Hamilton chose to stick with McLaren, his brother mocked him and chose his rival Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull as his car. Meanwhile, presenter Jake Humphrey opted for Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari.
Nicolas was on the cusp of defeating his world-champion brother in the sport. But the 7x world champion had evil plans as he chose to take a rather unsporting route to beat his younger brother.
How did Lewis Hamilton cheat against his brother?
Lewis Hamilton might be the most successful F1 driver based on all his achievements. However, when it comes to online gaming and sim-racing, his half-brother Nicolas has the upper hand over him.
Nicolas took an early lead and made a huge gap against his world-champion brother. However, Hamilton started to catch up in the last lap of the 3-lap race in Monza.
Out of desperation to beat his brother, the 7x champion did something that’s frowned upon in racing. The Briton cut the Ascari chicane and was creeping up on the back of his brother.
Nicolas spun on the exit of Parabolica and gifted his brother the race win. The Mercedes driver showed no remorse as he celebrated his race win despite cheating during the race. He summarised his emotion after his debatable victory saying, “I felt great.”
Hamilton feels great about cheating
Lewis Hamilton was on his brother’s neck throughout the race. The 7-time world champion teased his brother Nicholas as he cut the chicane. “I’m going to take you out, Nick. Be careful on the breaking,” he warned his brother.
Nicholas could not believe it when his brother cut the chicane to gain the lead. After spinning, his brother called out the Mercedes driver saying, “You’re an idiot, You’re such a cheat, it’s unreal.”

The 7x world champion further mocked his brother to stop crying and get back on track. He admitted to cheating after the race, saying the brothers usually do this when they play against each other.
Hesummarised the incidents by saying, “I cheated, I cut the chicane which we always do when we race each other to catch each other up. Because he is so bleeding quickly. Unfortunately, he broke under pressure and crashed and that’s the truth”
Although the Mercedes driver seems to be pretty adamant about winning against his brother, it’s far from the truth. Hamilton has always supported his younger brother’s racing endeavors and cheered him during races.
