Fans slam Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his “They respect us” comment ahead of Carabao Cup 2nd leg vs Man City. United lost the first leg 3-1 at home.

Manchester United were humiliated at the Old Trafford by local rivals Manchester City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup. Pep Guardiola’s side were already 3 up by 45 minutes. United managed to pull one back in the 2nd half but the game had already been decided by then.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer however, chose to see the bright side of the drubbing. Instead however, he has irked the United faithful for his comments about having Manchester City’s respect and how his side is going places.

Speaking on Manchester City playing a strong starting 11 against them on Tuesday, Solskjaer bafflingly said:

“When you play Man City in the Carabao Cup and they put their strongest team out, you know you’ve gone places because that means they respect us.”

The statement falls apart when you consider that City were without Aguero and Ederson. In fact, the side did not even feature a traditional striker. Besides, it is extremely disheartening to see the manager of one of England’s most historic club brazenly display inferiority complex.
