FIFA 20 Cover Star: Eden Hazard and Virgil Van Dijk unveiled as FIFA 20 cover stars. The Ultimate Edition cover star is yet to be named.
Liverpool defender and Real Madrid playmaker, Virgil Van Dijk and Eden Hazard will star on the front cover of FIFA 20 later this year.
Van Dijk will star on the cover of the Champions edition while Hazard will grace the cover of the Standard edition. EA are yet to declare the cover star for FIFA 20’s Ultimate Edition. However, an announcement can be expected soon.
Eden Hazard has made the cover after his monumental transfer to Real Madrid from Chelsea earlier in the summer. The Spanish Giants prised him away from the London club for £130 million. He is featured wearing his new club’s jersey and pointing towards the club emblem.
Virgil Van Dijk on the other hand has smashed his way to the cover after a splendid performance with Liverpool, which saw the club from Merseyside lift the coveted Champions League trophy. In doing so, he has become the first centre-back to feature on the FIFA cover since Sol Campbell back in 2000. The PFA Player of the Year is also the first defender to be on the cover of the game since Roberto Carlos in 2003.
While speaking with SportsBible, the Liverpool star said:
“When I found out I was on the FIFA cover it was unreal.
“I’ve played FIFA since I was young and saw all these big players on the cover.
“It’s good to get recognition sometimes as a defender and I’m very proud. It’s not often that a defender comes on the cover and it’s something very special.”
Release date and platforms
FIFA 20 will release on September 27th this year with a demo expected to drop a few weeks earlier. The game will be available on the Xbox one, PS4 PC and The Nintendo Switch.
The Xbox one, PS4 and PC versions will have all the new features. However, the Nintendo Switch versions will instead be a Legacy Edition. Meaning that while it will have updated kits, rosters and minor updates, it will lack the new Volta Football mode or any of the other new features.
