Social media presence has become a massive part of the lives of celebrities and sportspersons, as it is the best and the easiest way for them to communicate with their fans.

And slowly the trend has gotten to the various franchises, teams, leagues and associations around the globe as well.

Social media banter between players, teams and even sporting associations is something that has helped fans come closer to the sport/player they love.

Now, Formula 1 for long wasn’t really in the ‘social media business’ per se, with it being the least of concerns.

But with Liberty Media coming in, F1 has revamped its social media strategy and is coming up with more content for its fans, so as to help build a good chain of communication with them over their most preferred medium.

During the race weekends, there seems to be a lot of content to work with, but it is during the non-race weekends that things need to be ‘manufactured’.

And that is exactly what the F1 twitter account tried to do last night, by coming up with a ‘meme/joke’ about the new F1 theme song.

The new F1 theme song has been very well received and has instantly become a fan favourite.

“Me: Hey can we listen to the F1 theme music?

DJ: Sir, for the third time this is a nightclub” the F1 twitter account tweeted.

Now, the fans were a little divided on if the F1 twitter account should be posting memes.

While a few embraced it as the new age way to deal with fans and grow your fanbase, the others felt that F1’s official twitter account shouldn’t be indulging in posting memes.

While Fleetwood Mac fans still love ‘The Chain’, but the new theme song has grown onto the fans.
