Frenkie De Jong and Luka Modric were not happy after the doping test.
When Ajax took on Real Madrid at Johan Cryuff Arena on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, the game was filled with full of controversies. The visitors won the game 2-1 and the Dutch outfit felt that decisions have gone in favour of Real Madrid.
During the first half, Tagliafico’s header was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee(VAR) because another Ajax player was interfering Thibaut Courtois. Even though there were no appeals from the Los Blancos players, the referee decided to overturn the decision.
Even the official Twitter handle of UEFA Champions League decided to tweet about this doubtful decision.
VAR in the UCL: in the 38th minute of the Ajax v Madrid first leg, Nicolás Tagliafico’s headed goal was ruled out following a VAR review. The referee identified that Tagliafico’s team-mate Dušan Tadić was in an offside position and interfering with the goalkeeper – pic.twitter.com/sPtZFd6YiB

preventing him from playing or being able to play the ball – as the header was being made. This was in line with VAR protocol and the goal was correctly overturned and a free-kick given for offside.

Another decision also went against Ajax players during the build-up for the second goal. During the winner goal, Lucas Vazquez knocks out Frenkie De Jong in the middle, but the referee nearby fails to notice it.
Even though this foul did not have a direct influence on the goal, the Spaniard is lucky to get away with this. Some other referee would have stopped the play and booked Real Madrid’s forward.
Both on the field and off the field were filled with huge controversies. Luka Modric and Frenkie De Jong enjoyed a great battle on the pitch.

During the drug test after the game, Luka Modric and Frenkie De Jong were forced to puddle at a distance of half a metre from each other in the doping room. They did have a little trouble with that and were clearly unhappy with that treatment.

Gareth Bale and Klass-Jan Huntelaar were the other two players to have been tested by the doping charge team.
The likes of Diego Maradona, Edgar Davids, Adrian Mutu, Jack Livermore, and Deco have all been suspended for some amount of time after taking drugs. It is quite evident that the European Football Federation is taking this matter seriously for fair play regulations.
The second leg of the Round 16 Clash against Ajax will take place at Santiago Bernabeu on March 5th.
