The FIFA 23 Team of the Season campaign honors soccer stars from different leagues for their outstanding performances this season. After releasing the TOTS for renowned soccer leagues, EA Sports turned its attention towards lesser-known leagues like MLS and Eredivisie. The latest addition to this series was the Liga Portugal.
Unlike major leagues, EA Sports didn’t take fan votes to select the Liga Portugal TOTS. Instead, the developers chose some of the players from that league for this special FUT card series. The following eight players from the highest division of Portuguese club soccer were named the FIFA 23 Liga Portugal Team of the Season:
Goalkeeper
- 89 GK – Diogo Costa (FC Porto)
Defenders
- 92 LB – Alejandro Grimaldo (Benfica)
- 91 CB – Nicolas Otamendi (Benfica)
Midfielders
- 90 CAM – Ricardo Horta (Braga)
- 92 RM – Joao Mario (Benfica)
Attackers
- 94 LW – Pedro Goncalves (Sporting CP)
- 93 ST – Mehdi Taremi (FC Porto)
- 91 ST – Goncalo Ramos (Benfica)
It isn’t surprising that half of the players on this Liga Portugal TOTS list are from Benfica. After all, this Portuguese club dominated the league this season. These four players were instrumental in Benfica’s dominance this season. Diogo Costa and Mehdi Taremi are also worthy of their spot in TOTS, as their skills helped FC Porto to finish second.
The other two players on this list are Braga’s Ricardo Horta and Sporting CP’s Pedro Goncalves. These two players might not be from the top two Portuguese teams, but their performance that helped their clubs finish third and fourth didn’t go unnoticed by EA Sports. Hence, they were also added to Liga Portugal TOTS.
How to get these new FIFA 23 TOTS cards?
Like every other Team of the Season card released, these Liga Portugal ones are also available in FUT packs. So it would be about the fan’s luck to get a Liga Portugal TOTS from the pack.
