Honkai Star Rail garnered over 20 million downloads in a day and one of them was a pro player from Valorant Challengers League Taiwan/Hong Kong. The pro player became so engrossed in the gacha game that the team had to forfeit their S2 Esports and Ghost CommandoS match. The player was unable to install the Valorant client on time.
While the two games have nothing in common, this indirect rival to Valorant has the whole community in splits. Even the most committed Valorant pros can’t get enough of the gacha game.
Honkai Star Rail becomes an indirect competition to Valorant
An esports writer who goes by the name of KZ Seulgi on Twitter brought the incident to light when he posted a screenshot of the match. He said:
“Just read about the funniest forfeit possibly in VCT history in VCL HKTW,” he said.
“The team in question (GCS) had to forfeit because one of their players was too busy playing Honkai Star Rail to install the VCT client in time for their match,” he added.

The tweet quickly went viral and the active Valorant community on Twitter was quick to give their views about the incident. One of the most persistent questions was about the need to install a different client. This is mostly because the tournament shuffles between the three clients every week.
I play in this VCT, and they use 3 different clients, swapping between them weekly, this week there was an update to the first one we used to include Bind and the new skinset basically making it close to the latest release, and the update was basically the size of a normal client

Fans react to the rise of the popular gacha game
The Valorant community hilariously responded to the whole situation with a majority of the people saying they can’t blame the players for what transpired. Others commented saying that they assumed they had seen everything that happens during tournaments, but this was a new thing for them.
can’t blame them sorry

For now, the team in question has not addressed the situation. We will update the story if a statement is released by the team.
