Gerard Pique faces humiliation while stopping Inaki Williams in Copa Del Rey match

Gerard Pique faces humiliation while defending against Inaki Williams during last night loss against Athletic Bilbao by 1-0 at San Mames.

Barcelona suffered yet another upset this season as the Blaugranas were defeated by Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-final round of the Copa Del Rey, but apart from this Barcelona’s Gerard Pique also faced an embarrassing moment while defending against Inaki Williams.

While defending against Williams in the match, Pique was left holding on to his 25-year-old opponent’s shirt for dear life in a desperate attempt to stop him.

But in the end, Pique fell to the ground in an embarrassing manner, and even injured himself in the process, as the last 10 minutes of the game were played by Samuel Umtiti, who came in place of Pique.

As per Per @Ultra_Suristic on Twitter, Williams told Spanish TV after the match: “I saw Pique having problems and told my teammates to pass me the ball closer to him.”

Not only Williams spoilt the night for Pique, they even did the same with Barcelona fans, as the Spanish forward scored the only goal of the game in the injury time to eliminate Barcelona.

This is surprising for Barcelona as usually they reach the finale and are the most successful team in this competition. Moreover, amidst the recent controversy surrounding Lionel Messi and Eric Abidal have already tensed the situation at the club.

And with this elimination, things might get even more intense, while Lionel Messi is speculated to leave the Catalans in the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona still has La Liga and the Champions League to focus upon, with Real Madrid giving a tough fight for the league, the men under Quique Seiten have a big task ahead.

On the other hand, the Barcelona board is supposed to calm things down at the club, with players feeling resentment over the whole Abidal fiasco.
