Watch the video of Gerard Pique’s reaction to Diego Costa’s red card at Nou Camp.
Barcelona invited Atletico Madrid to Nou Camp as the title challengers went head-to-head in search of three points. There was no flurry of chances in the first half as it ended as a stalemate. However, Barcelona’s Jordi Alba had a fantastic chance to lead the game, but the Spanish International hit the crossbar in a one-v-one situation.
However, there was a heated situation which saw Diego Costa receive a red card. The Atletico Madrid striker was fouled in the middle of the field, but the referee failed to pull things back for the visitors. The forward lost his temper and referee went to his pocket and picked up the red card.
Analysis from replays after the incident have some suggesting that the offensive phrase directed towards the referee was: “la puta madre que te parió” which, let’s just say, is a very unpleasant insult with reference to the official’s mother. Gil Manzano explained to the other senior Atlético players after the incident what their silly teammate had said.
But, Costa continued his protest and had to pulled back by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. The Blaugrana’s #3 calmed him down and escorted him to the touchline to avoid any sorts of problem with the referee. On the touchline, Diego Simeone was furious with the decision but calmed himself down once he knew what Costa said to the officiate.

Unreal. Imagine giving Costa a red card despite his reputation as a respectful, upstanding gentleman.
Will this cost Atleti the match??
