Who is going to be the next England Captain ?

Wayne Rooney has been dropped by Gareth Southgate for the friendlies in the upcoming International break in what should be seen as a very brave but correct decision by the England manager. (Who is going to be the next England Captain ?)

Rooney has not been a regular at Manchester United this season and it looks like his time at Old Trafford is slowly but surely coming to an end. Ever since he broke the all time goal scoring record for England, Rooney has looked like a player who seems to be past his best and this has not been conducive to England’s best interests.

So who should be the next captain of England? Gareth Southgate believes that he has the ideal candidate in Spurs striker Harry Kane.

“Harry has definite leadership qualities,” said Southgate. “Harry’s got an opinion. He’s always happy to speak up in front of the group.” (Who is going to be the next England Captain ?)

“He’s a very determined, single-minded individual, completely dedicated to improving and is having another outstanding season.

“It’s his third season of playing at a very high level and getting high numbers of goals. I’ve not been able to pick him yet but it looks good for him, Tottenham and England.”

It has been a remarkable rise to the top for Harry Kane as it was not long ago that he was playing Championship football after being told that he was simply not good enough for the Premier League. (Who is going to be the next England Captain ?)

But he has turned it around in superb fashion and has now gone on to become one the best goal scorers in the Premier League and also in all of Europe. If he does get appointed as England captain, then it would cap off a remarkable turn in fortunes for the young Englishman,
