The series might be done and dusted (no Portland isn’t suddenly going to become a team that beats this Warriors team 4 times in a row), but the the games are still on. Game 4 is a win or stay home game for Portland, and given Lillard’s statement that game 2 wasn’t the last the Oracle crowd had seen of the Blazers, unless Lillard wants to come down to watch the NBA Finals at Oracle, the Blazers and especially Dame have a promise to deliver on.

There are 2 players in the series that have been considered untouchable from our team and they will remain so. Steph Curry and Draymond Green have been so atrociously good, they have people genuinely questioning whether the Warriors needed Durant for their team or to keep him away form other teams. Steph has been averaging 35 points per game this series leading all scorers by a massive margin. Draymond has been doing everything else on the court. Literally. Blocks, steals, rebounds, assists are all stats that are piling up. And its not like the Blazers have been able to stop him from scoring when he has aggressively attempted to score (generally when Warriors are down big and need an igniting run).

Game 3 in Portland was probably Green’s best game of his career and for a guy who has all the intangibles and does all things that do not show up on the scoreboard, he does a lot of things that also do show up on the scoreboard. Green had 20 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists, 4 steals and 1 block in the game. He also spoke post game about not having any techs since the 1st round series against the Clippers and he spoke about trying to be better on court and reduce his on court histrionics after watching his son do some of those things in his school games. Well, a determined Green, doing it all, with no antics? I think that might just be my favorite player.

Seth Curry is the only player on the Blazers team who has a positive +/- for the series and its not difficult to see why. As the series has progressed, Seth Curry has been showing that the Curry household isn’t a one kid wonder sort of a household. Seth has been a Steph stopper on defense, who could’ve thought that. But Seth has been stealing and hustling Steph off the ball as long as he stays on him in defense. He has 60 D11 points for the series at just 5 credit points. That is a 4 Points per Credit return! That is WILD!

Klay Thompson and CJ McCollum are big scorers who can go on hot streaks and if Portland wants to mount a comeback in this series, McCollum might be their best shot, given how poor Lillard’s form has been and with the news that he is playing with a separated rib from a game 2 fall.

Evan Turner has also been getting major minutes this series given Portland’s need to match Warriors small ball lineups. Aminu and Harkless have been very poor in this series and the more minutes Turner gets, the more things he can do as a do it all SF, a massively watered down version of Draymond Green if you want.

Myers Leonard has grabbed the opportunity to play given the ineffectiveness of Enes Kanter on both ends of the floor and had his best playoff game in game 3 with an impressive first half after which his playing time got reduced somehow? He still brought home 25 points and a shoutout to us for picking him last game and totally getting it right.

Zach Collins is going to be a great player in this league if he can stop being the opposite version of James Harden when it comes to fouls. Harden has the weird capability of getting fouled 5 times in a quarter, Collins can match that, just that he could commit 5 fouls in less than half a quarter with consummate ease. He still managed 20 points last game and if he stays out of foul trouble he will do well with his tenacity and long range scoring capabilities.
