Afghanistan cricket seems to have spiraled out of control after their latest debacle over the role of captain of the side. The side have played 4 test matches but have now already had 3 captains with one of them sacked without captaining a single test match.

Gulbadin Naib replaced Asghar Afghan just before the world cup while Rahmat Shah was made the Test Captain. However, following Afghanistan’s disappointing performance in the World Cup where they failed to win a single match saw their T20 Captain Rashid Khan being promoted to lead the side across all formats.
Shah was stripped off the captaincy before even being put to the test. However, his successor failed to even last half a year after Asghar Afghan was reappointed the captain of the side for all formats on December 11th.
Gulabdin Naib’s tweet threatens to expose Afghan players who purposely underperformed during World Cup
While Naib congratulated Rashid Khan when he took over the captaincy from him, he has refused to play under Afghan since the announcement. In a live video on Facebook, Naib claimed that Asghar and Atif Mashal, then chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board, annoyed him a lot while he was captaining the team during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
I will come live on my official Facebook page stay with me.5:00pm

“I congratulated Rashid Khan on becoming captain, but I will not congratulate one who made fun of Afghanistan name and flag at World Cup,” Naib said. “I was telling him that it is not my team, neither it is yours or another’s. It is Afghanistan’s team, let’s do it for Afghanistan.”
Interestingly, after the video, Gulbadin Naib explained his reason for going public on Twitter. He stated that he had been sidelined and authorities after being promised that they would take care of the circle of player who carried heavy influence in the side.
The former captain claimed that this circle of players purposely chose not to perform under his captaincy and due to the lack of action taken against them, he will reveal who these people are.
You can read the tweets here:
My dear Afghans, the main reason why i went public is not because i have personal grudge against player or the board. I am going to reveal every persons identity involved in corruption and other misconducts and betrayals against our Nation cricket and its ppl.

I know most of you may ask why have i not spoken publicly against these ppl/mafia circle before. I have been sidelined and promised, by the authorities and other stakeholders that they will sort the mess in the cricket team and promised immediate changes & banning of this circle
— Gulbadin Naib (@GbNaib) December 11, 2019
The same circle have access all the way to some high level gov officials, who have influence over the cricket board and management. Some blatantly admitted to the board that they were not performing as they were suppose to during world cup because of my captaincy….
— Gulbadin Naib (@GbNaib) December 11, 2019
Has anything been done about such betrayal? For public interest, if D authorities don’t take appropriate actions, i will publicly name & shame every single one from gov officials to board members, players and ex board and management members. Stay tuned… long life my beloved 🇦🇫

Before the World Cup, when Gulbadin Naib was just handed the captaincy, he had famously claimed that Afghan was still his captain. A little over half a year later, bad blood has taken over the side; to the point where the musical chairs surrounding their captaincy has taken centre-stage of a country still looking to find its feet in cricket.
