Gulbadin Naib memes: Twitter reactions on Afghanistan skipper’s ordinary last over to hand victory to Pakistan in a nail-biting contest

It’s done and dusted. The ‘mercurial’ Pakistan Cricket Team have yet again managed to keep their World Cup dreams alive as they beat the gritty Afghanistan side in an absolute humdinger of a game by 3 wickets at Headingly, Leeds.
The Afghanistan side yet again, akin their game against India fell agonizingly short of a debut World Cup victory in the ongoing edition. With this win, Pakistan have, for the first time moved to the 4th spot in the points table, pushing the Hosts England down to the 5th.

But, the Twitteratis, especially the Indian users, were simply unimpressed by the Afghanistan skipper, Gulbadin Naib, who had taken the onus upon him to defend six runs off the final over of the match. Although, defending six runs in as many deliveries was a challenging task under pressure (to say the least), but the fans were not impressed with the manner he went about bowling those deliveries.
2 full tosses, a missed run-out and plenty of drama
The fans expressed their anger on the fact that Gulbadin’s over consisted of two full tosses and a missed dolly of a run-out at the non-striker’s end.
In the very first delivery of the last over, the skipper bowled a juicy full toss outside off to the set Imad Wasim. Although he was lucky enough that it was smashed straight to the fielder at deep cover, costing him only a single.
He then bowled a haywire wide slower delivery to Wahab Riaz outside the leg-stump, which again went in his favour, as Wahab went for the pull t get his glove on the way for another single.
But, the biggest of them all happened in the third delivery, where he missed an easy run-out opportunity at the non-striking end. He failed to gather an easy return from the fielder at covers, to run Imad out, and what’s worse, nutmegged the ball through his legs for Imad to get back to the strike plus costing an extra run.
Not learn from his mistakes, and let the pressure piling heavily upon him, he again bowled a dolly of a full toss to the all rounder, as he smashed it towards the boundary thereby sealing a 3-wicket victory for his side.
Here is how the twitter reacted on Gulbadin Naib’s performance
Sorry my Afghan friends, but Gulbadin Naib has to be the most idiotic cricket captain I have ever seen. https://t.co/sE2iEQQt3x

Even Geoffrey Boycott’s granny would have caught that simple throw and run out Wahab. Not impressed with Gulbadin – 8 full-tosses and then this. Heart goes out to Afghanistan. Great match. #PAKvAFG

Go home Fevicol. Gulbadin Naib can fix much better. #PAKvAFG

Looks like Gulbadin will be able to return safely to Afghanistan but he dare not come to India.

Gulbadin Naib is Afghanistan’s captain in ODIs:
He averages 21.65 with the bat.
He opened the batting vs Pakistan scoring 12.He averages 32.57 with the ball & has one wicket all tournament.
He bowled himself for 10 overs vs Pakistan, conceded 73 & was wicketless.😳#PAKvsAFG pic.twitter.com/vDYa69kUd7

Gulbadin Naib fixed the match perfectly, bowled shit full tosses and not giving over to shenwari. Politics killed Afghan World Cup campaign, making this guy captain over Asghar afghan and dropping Ahmed Shahzad. #PAKvAFG pic.twitter.com/XU4Fxe2uel

Afghanistan sacking Afghan, their captain for 4 years, and replacing him with Gulbadin on the brink of the World Cup, was remarkable. That’s the sadness of Afghanistan’s World Cup campaign: politics has dragged the team down, and they’re performing under themselves.

Is Gulbadin a very selfish captain or is that my imagination? Bowls all the time, reviews unnecessarily, opens the batting.. #AFGvsPAK

Thank you Major Gulbadin. pic.twitter.com/PxCrhCwFqL— Navid Baksh (@kokurr) June 29, 2019
I’ve told this before and I’m telling it again. Gulbadin Naib is one selfish cricketer! Bowls always, opens the batting and reviews on his own bowling unnecessarily. Why is this bits & pieces cricketer the captain of Afghanistan at the first place? #AFGvPAK #CWC19

Gulbadin Naib should hang his head in shame.
He cost Afghanistan a historic World Cup win for his own personal gain.
Shambolic from the captain. #AFGvPAK #CWC2019
