Hanuma Vihari dismissal vs New Zealand A: Watch India A captain gets out bizarrely to Dane Cleaver and Rachin Ravindra's joint effort

Hanuma Vihari dismissal vs New Zealand A: The visiting captain had to walk back to the pavilion after an unfortunate dismissal.

During the first day of the first unofficial Test of the ongoing India A’s tour of New Zealand in Christchurch, India A captain Hanuma Vihari had to walk back to the pavilion following an unfortunate way to get out.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 41st over when Vihari’s attempt to sweep a delivery from New Zealand A spinner Cole McConchie saw him getting out in a bizarre manner.

Having nailed the sweep, Vihari saw the ball ricocheting off short-leg fielder Rachin Ravindra’s leg to lob in the air before being smartly grabbed by New Zealand A wicket-keeper Dane Cleaver. Getting out despite timing the ball perfectly didn’t make the Indian skipper look very pleased and rightly so.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 18th over, Vihari looked impressive in the middle before getting out on 51 (79) which included eight fours. Vihari had stitched a 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside batsman Shubman Gill who top-scored for India A with 83 (83) with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

After New Zealand A captain Hamish Rutherford won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat, India A were bundled out for 216 in 54.1 overs. With bowling figures of 16-3-54-4, New Zealand A pacer Michael Rae was the pick of their bowlers. Apart from Rae, McConchie and Jacob Duffy picked three and two wickets respectively.

New ball bowlers in Mohammed Siraj and Ishan Porel dismissed a batsman each in the last session as the hosts scored 105/2 in 33 overs at Stumps on the first day.
