Carmelo Anthony celebrated his 37th birthday yesterday. The Blazers’ forward would be more than elated that his team tied the series at 2 apiece on his birthday. Anthony got a lot of wishes, from a lot of different people. There were many teammates, colleagues, opponents, analysts, and fans alike. However, one wish stands apart from the rest. Melo’s dear friend LeBron James wished him a special message through an Instagram post.

‘Happy GDay King’: LeBron James wishes Carmelo Anthony with a beautiful message

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony have been linked together throughout their entire professional career. Both the players were highly anticipated picks in the 2003 NBA draft. James was considered a prodigy, making his jump from High School to the league. Melo had the spotlight on him for leading his college team to a championship. However, according to James’ post, they were tied together even before the same.

LeBron brings up old memories and compliments Melo for being who he is. His caption read,

SCREAMING 🗣🗣🗣🗣 HAPPY GDAY to my brother @carmeloanthony! Who would ever think that 20 years ago when two strangers sat on those steps outside late in the night at the hotel in Delaware(for HOURS) for The Slam Dunk on the Beach High School tournament. We began talking about everything in our lives that was going on, that if it would ultimately result in a friendship and brotherhood bond nobody could ever break no matter how badly they wanted too! I’m proud of you man, TRULY AM! You’ve always been YOU and someone I know I can always call on rather I need it or not! LOVE YOU KING MELO! Peace ✌🏾 God! 🙏🏾✊🏾❤️👑

It is clear the love shared is mutual between them. There is a chance we may get to see the Banana Boat buddies face off in the second round of the playoffs. If the Blazers and the Lakers manage to qualify for the next round, we may see a rematch of the Bubble round 2.
