Harbhajan Singh slams Greg Chappell over MS Dhoni-comment; says 'coach was playing different games'

Harbhajan Singh slams Greg Chappell: The veteran Indian spinner has passed a massive statement on the former Indian head coach.

Veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed former head coach Greg Chappell on social media platform Twitter over the latter’s statement regarding legendary India wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Speaking alongside Charu Sharma and Vivek Atray during a live session on PlayWrite Foundation’s Facebook page, Chappell recently hailed Dhoni’s finishing skills and revealed it was him who asked the swashbuckling batsman to play along the ground back in the day.

“I remember his [MS Dhoni] knock of 183 against Sri Lanka and how he tore them apart. It was power hitting at its very best. The next match was in Pune. I asked MS, ‘why don’t you play along the ground more instead of trying to hit every ball to the boundary’,” Chappell was quoted as saying.

While the anecdote has been doing the rounds since morning, Harbhajan didn’t shy away from taking a dig at Chappell and accusing him of “playing a different game”. “He asked Dhoni to play along the ground coz coach was hitting everyone out the park.. He was playing different games,” read Harbhajan’s tweet.

It is worth mentioning that Chappell’s stint with the Indian team ended up after India’s disastrous performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. Chappell, who had a fallout with the then captain Sourav Ganguly during his stint as a coach, has been named in many infamous revelations around the Indian team.

Post his retirement, many top-notch names took to various platforms over the years to disclose how Chappell tried to cause a rift between the Indian players.
