Harry Maguire: Man Utd plan £70 million transfer to outbid Man City for Leicester City defender

Manchester United are preparing a bid worth £70 million to land Harry Maguire.

Manchester United are preparing a deal worth £70 million to entice Harry Maguire joining them over their rivals. To fend off the interest from Pep Guardiola, Solskjaer is ready to outbid him and lure Maguire to Old Trafford.

Contrary to the previous report about Leicester City defender joining the English Champions, Manchester United have jumped over their fierce rivals, according to Sky Sports. Foxes will not be reluctant to turn down that bid because of their £100 million price tag.

Jose Mourinho failed to land him last summer as Leicester were firm on their price tag. The English International was shaky last season, but his valuations have done dropped down because of the collective failure under Claude Puel. Albeit being open to an idea of moving to a bigger club, Maguire will not force out of the club.

Along with the club stars, Maguire was not spotted in the pre-season training. Since the defender was part of the UEFA Nations League campaign after a tough season with the Foxes, he is given an extended layoff from his normal duties. However, it is not yet known if he would join his teammates on Sunday. The squad head to Évian-Les-Bains for six days of training in the French Alps.

The English side is aware of the conundrum in the backline and would demand an extortionate fee. The figure is likely to break the transfer record of Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk in the summer transfer window.

At the other side, Pep Guardiola sees him as an ideal candidate to replace Vincent Kompany in the defence department. Additionally, with the ‘home ground’ players rule coming into the play, it would solve the much-needed problem for the Citizens.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Manchester United will expect a tough fit from Manchester City. The Red Devils might coup up 70 million now, but numerous bids are expected in the forthcoming days as Leicester City expect a bidding war.
