In three matches against West Indies, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan scored 103 runs at an average of 51.50 and a strike rate of 147.14. In the same number of matches, Shakib counted for eight wickets, which came at an average of 11.12, an economy rate of 7.51 and a strike rate of 8.8.
Fourth-highest run-scorer and highest wicket-taker in the series, Shakib’s formidable performance saw him stepping up the ladder in the MRF ICC T20I Rankings and earning the ‘Man of the Series’ award.
The 31-year old cricketer jumped seven spots to reach No. 37 in the list of batsmen. In the bowlers’ list, Shakib jumped three spots to reach No. 7. With 338 rating points, Shakib is currently the No. 2 all-rounder, only behind Australia’s Glenn Maxwell. It is worth mentioning that Shakib is the top all-rounder in the other two formats.
Having scored 109 runs in three matches at an average of 36.33 and a strike rate of 170.31, Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das moved up 26 places to reach a career-best 47th position.
Much like Shakib, another Bangladesh all-rounder in Mahmudullah jumped up the rankings across divisions. Having jumped two spots, he has reached 31st position in the batsmen’s list. His five wickets in the series saw him jumping 17 places to reach No. 51. In the all-rounder’s list, Mahmudullah has jumped a spot to reach No. 4.
West Indies’ opening batsman Evin Lewis, who scored a match-winning 89 (36) with the help of six fours and eight sixes in the last T20I, has jumped 11 positions to reach No. 4. Shai Hope (from No. 162 to No. 80) and Nicholas Pooran (from No. 104 to No. 88) are the other West Indies’ batsmen to make gains.
No change in the teams has seen arch-rivals India and Pakistan retaining their No. 2 and No. 1 rank respectively.
Among the Indian players, opening batsman Lokesh Rahul is at No. 7 followed by vice-captain Rohit Sharma (No. 10), opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (No. 12) and captain Virat Kohli (No. 15). Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was dropped from the T20I squad earlier this year, is currently at No. 65.
Among the bowlers, wrist-spinners in Kuldeep Yadav (No. 3) and Yuzvendra Chahal (No. 11) are the best Indian bowlers.

“Sanctions may come and go, but if you don’t stand for something, you fall for everything. If the sanctions are to be handed, I would gladly take it. My teammates need to be stood up for and as the captain of the ship, I will stand up for them.” – Carlos Brathwaite. #BANvWI pic.twitter.com/RYrit03asB

Huge controversy: Liton Das has been caught but umpire has called it a no-ball when it was not. And Carlos Brathwaite has asked to review it. He is having an animated conversation with the fourth umpire and match referee. Umpire has called it a no-ball finally. #BANvWI
