New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau continues to be one of the grumpiest people in the world, even on his birthday.

The Knicks took some time out to sing Happy Birthday to Tom Thibodeau after their 105-75 drubbing of the Celtics. Shortly after the festivities, Tom was asked if he was pleased with the win on his birthday. He replied, “I’m not happy unless I’m miserable.”
Knicks apparently sang Happy Birthday to Tom Thibodeau after their blowout win over Boston today. When asked, lightheartedly, whether he was happy with a win in Boston on his birthday, Thibodeau said with a grin, “I’m not happy unless I’m miserable.” https://t.co/pBweCPuWAy

Anyone who has followed the long managerial career of Thibs knows that he is always grumpy. He’s often had reason to be so. Thibodeau has not been able to win a chip as a head coach despite coming painfully close with the 2011 Bulls. Since then he has had to coach sub-par talent, which must have added to his frustration.
How has Tom Thibodeau performed with the Knicks?
The Knicks finished the 2019-20 season as the 12th seed extending their playoff drought to 7 years. To add to their troubles, the Knicks had a less-than-ideal offseason. Their most notable acquisitions were Austin Rivers and Nerlens Noel. This was a familiar story for Thibs and many predicted that the Knicks were going to falter again.
Despite having low expectations and sub-par talent, the Knicks currently sit in the 9th seed of the Eastern Conference. It is still way too early into the season to make any bold prediction. However, the Knicks have shown flashes of brilliance. Their 30-point slaughter of the Celtics is a good example of that. A blowout win over the Bucks was another.
They have been outperforming expectations, starting the first ten games with a 5-5 record. Hopefully, the Knicks can make a run at a playoff spot.
Hopefully, the Knicks can ride this wave of confidence into a winning streak and put a smile on their coach’s face.
