The defender is said to be on the verge of a Premier League move
Although the summer transfer window is still quite some time away, Liverpool are said to have already pulled the gears of transfers in place.
In a bid to avoid the ongoing predicament they face when it comes to injuries at the back, the club is said to be working overtime on identifying a fresh defender to indulge in. And the club’s hectic and arduous scouring for a new name looks to have ended with the side said to be working on finalising a deal for Ibrahima Konate.
Reports have been rife across the globe about how Konate is on the cusp of moving to Liverpool come the new season. Liverpool are said to be sold on Konate with the Premier League club willing to open its pockets and pay Konate’s 34 million pound release clause.
Konate Talks About Liverpool Transfer
Quizzed on the persistent links between him and Liverpool, Konate acknowledged he was being bombarded with questions. However, the RB Leipzig defender refused to dwell deeper into the reports.
Konate said when quizzed about the transfer: “I woke up, I saw my phone ringing all over the place.
“I just wanted to tell them: ‘Hey, I played yesterday, I’m tired, leave me alone.’
“Frankly, I don’t even watch this. We can’t focus on that, there are the Euros and then my return to the club.
“You have to focus on that and not on the external things.”
Konate who stands at a staggering 6 feet and 4 inches is said to be the third fastest CB in the world at the moment. His towering stature paired with his searing speed and ability to put in the tackles and blocks are said to have left Klopp enchanted by the player who he eyes as a potential partner for Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool are also said to be working on signing Ozan Kabak permanently from Schalke for an 18 million pound deal. The Turkey CB is currently on loan at Liverpool and has impressed in his opening exchanges.
