India retain 100th spot in FIFA Rankings
The Indian Football team has managed to retain the 100th spot in the FIFA Rankings and will go into their friendly against Nepal with the same number across their name. India is jointly ranked 100 right now, with Kazakhstan and Nicaragua also sharing the same spot.
India broke into the top 100 in May 2017 for the first time in 21 years, after good wins against Myanmar and Cambodia. India did not play any games in the last month and had to depend on lower ranked teams not winning much in order to hold on to their 100th spot. They have 331 ranking points as of now and would be hopeful of staying in the top 100 next month as well.
1996 was the last time India was in the top 100 of the FIFA Rankings, and their 9th spot during that time is the highest ever FIFA Ranking for the nation.
Brazil, Argentina and Germany make up the top 3 and would be in high spirits before the Confederations Cup!
With Stephen Constantine instilling new training methods and coming up with shrewd in field strategies, hopefully the Indian Football team cements its place in the top 100 and then ultimately sets itself for the bigger goal of playing the FIFA World Cup.
