While it is no secret that the Catalan club wants to buy Phillippe Coutinho, Liverpool’s insistence on not selling their star player might prove to be the major road block.

So what now for Barcelona?

This has been a very tough month or so for the Catalan club. Neymar’s shocking exit has prompted chaos within the club, as the after effects could be seen in Barcelona’s defeat to arch rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

And then, there is of course the curious case of Lionel Messi. The Barcelona legend, who has only one year left on his contract, is yet to put pen to paper, as the club are getting increasingly anxious over his future.

Messi is extremely upset with the way this window has gone, and has ordered the top brass to make some major signings. Messi has personally requested the signing of Angel Di Maria, something that the club has also considered.

Messi’s entourage have apparently made it clear that if their demands are not met, they will consider walking away at the end of the year.

Could the unthinkable actually happen?

If Neymar’s loss was not bad enough, what would happen in Barcelona if Leo Messi decides to quit the club?
