India Vs Afghanistan football world cup qualifier will be played in Tajikistan as India looks to secure the first win in their group.
India will meet their long lost SAFF rivals Afghanistan in the FIFA World Cup qualifier, as India seeks their first win in the group as in the last 3 matches they have lost 1 game and played 2 draws.
On the other hand, Afghanistan has won the match against Bangladesh but lost to Oman and Qatar in the process. India and Afghanistan share a big rivalry since the SAFF cup days but haven’t met each other since the latter withdrawn its name from the region to join Central Asia.
Conditions for the game are certainly going to be different for the Indian contingent as the game will be hosted in Tajikistan at Dushanbe, where the match will be played on astroturf and weather will be below 1-degree Celcius.
Weather conditions are certainly not familiar to the Indian team especially in November considering India is a tropical country. But India needs to nail its chances and Afghanistan is a team which India has dominated in previous tournaments.
To prepare for astroturf, on Monday, the Blue Tigers went through a training session at the HTC Sports Academy in New Delhi on artificial turf, in preparation for the match which will be played in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe, on an artificial pitch.
The team is also had a training session in Dubai, en route Dushanbe. Igor Stimac has named a 26-man squad for the trip, with the likes of Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem and Nishu Kumar being called up.
Therefore, let’s look into more details for the upcoming match between India and Afghanistan for the world cup qualifier.
