IPL 2017 Fantasy Guide: Fantasy Tips for Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Two strong bowling line ups, two top heavy batting sides, two shrewd captains, two teams that know how to get the job done. Kolkata Knight Riders have been riding on brilliant bowling performances backed up by an in from top order to sit pretty at the top of the table. Uthappa and Gambhir have been in great touch and thus the middle order hasn’t been tested much, which is probably the only concern for KKR right now.

Sunrisers have similar strengths and similar weaknesses. They too boast of a very potent bowling attack backed up by the might of Warner, Dhawan and Williamson at the top. Their fragile middle order too hasn’t been under the gun a lot, and when they have, they haven’t really come out on top, a cause for worry for the SRH management.

The team that bats well in the middle overs will seal the game as all other departments could cancel each other off.

Now, I already have Kuldeep Yadav, Rashid Khan and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in my team for this game.

3 of my 4 overseas players feature in either today’s or tomorrow’s game and thus I can bring in only one overseas player into my team for this game.

With Hyderabad being a batting friendly wicket, I’ll be getting in David Warner into my side. The toss up was between Narine and Warner and though Narine offers me a double scoring opportunity, I’ll go ahead with Warner here because Narine will be up against Bhuvi at the top of the order and could cleaned up, rendering his double scoring opportunity useless.

Warner normally flourishes in conditions that allow the ball coming onto the bat and though the Hyderabad wicket has been a little sticky off late, it still plays better than most other pitches were Warner has been amongst the runs this season. So, get him in, he should help himself to a 50 tonight.

If you want to keep Warner out, just see how Gambhir reads the pitch, if he feels that it would turn a bit, get Narine in for Warner.

The conundrum with regard to Uthappa and Gambhir continues to haunt Fantasy Managers. And there is only one answer to it, you cannot really predict who would fire on a particular day. So, all you can do is spread out your risk and opt for the player who would give you multiple scoring opportunities, and that is definitely Uthappa, as he keeps wickets as well.

But as I have just 21 transfers in the kitty, I would not opt for Uthappa, as he’ll have to deal with Bhuvi upfront and then deal with Rashid’s trickery during the middle overs, which I hope will lead to his downfall. If you have more than 28 transfers left, get him in.

For the uncapped player, I’ll get in Deepak Hooda, as I have to opt for an all rounder, as he is the only available choice in this game. If Bipul Sharma plays, I’ll go with Bipul Sharma instead of Hooda

Captain: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

Note: I brought in Hashim Amla into my squad for the last game, as he was drafted in to the XI, a decision which wasn’t very great though.

Now, I already have Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvi in my side for this game.

With Punjab not playing a game for sometime, I can transfer out Amla and Maxwell and get in two overseas players.

David Warner seems to be the safest of all overseas player picks and thus I get him in. For the Rashid vs Narine conundrum, I would suggest getting in whoever bowls first, as dew in the second innings could play into the hands of the batsman.

Now, the third transfer that I’ll be making for this game is getting in Uthappa into my side. I have given the solution for the Uthappa-Gambhir conundrum in the IPL Fantasy League section.

Batting Star: David Warner/Robin Uthappa(whoever bats second)

Bowling Star: Bhuvi/Narine(whoever bowls first)
