IPL 2019 Betting Case: Seven persons were arrested after them being accused of betting during last night’s match between KKR and RCB.

During the 35th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kolkata, seven spectators were arrested on the back being accused of involvement in betting from the stadium itself.

The anti-rowdy section of Kolkata Police got hold of seven persons from Eden Gardens’ F1 Block as the match was going on.

Other than the individuals, police also seized fourteen mobile phones including one betting accessory last night. It is believed that the police reacted after getting source of information regarding betting from a source.

Among the arrested, four individuals were from Kolkata itself. The other three hailed from Sagar town in Motinagar Police Station area in Madhya Pradesh.

“Fourteen mobile phones including one betting accessory have been seized. A specific case is being recorded at Maidan Police Station,” Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), crime, Praveen Tripathi was quoted as saying.

Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore ended up registering their second IPL 2019 victory after they successfully defended 213 runs. On the other hand, it was a fourth consecutive loss for Kolkata Knight Riders.

The match had witnessed Royal Challengers captain Virat Kohli score his fifth IPL century. In what was an archetype Kohli innings, he ended up scoring 100 (58) with the help of nine fours and a four sixes before getting out on the last ball of the innings.
