Delhi Capitals trading fast bowler Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians a day before the last day of the trading window was surprising but such a development was bound to come at the last-minute. With just over 12 hours remaining for the trading window to get over, don’t be surprised if any other franchise makes a similar decision.
With the IPL auction slated to happen next month, teams have one last day to acquire a play from any team. Players which are not in a team’s scheme of things for IPL 2020 are also most likely to be released by tonight.

IPL 2020 Trade News
Apart from Boult, the biggest trade that happened in this window was when Kings XI Punjab traded captain Ravichandran Ashwin with Delhi Capitals to acquire all-rounder Jagadeesha Suchith. While the rumours of KXIP trading Ashwin had been doing the rounds since months, the development was eventually confirmed last week.
Among the other changes which Punjab have made to their squad is swap pacer Ankit Rajpoot with Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham.
Talking of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, they were the first two register a trade deal for this season. The defending champions had swapped spinner Mayank Markande with DC all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford.
In another last-minute deal, Mumbai have also acquired Rajasthan Royals pacer Dhawal Kulkarni, adding to their arsenal of fast bowlers. In the 10 matches that Kulkarni had played in IPL 2019, he dismissed six batsmen at an average of 55.83, an economy rate of 9.83 and a strike rate of 35.
With 12 overseas players in the squad at this point in time, Indians will have to release as many as four of them. If reports in ESPNcricinfo are to be believed, MI have already released opening batsman Evin Lewis and are likely to name the other three by tonight.
The interesting rumour regarding Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane turned into reality when Capitals announced his acquisition last evening.
Kolkata Knight Riders, who had remained silent until now, have traded batsman Siddesh Lad from Mumbai.
