"Dale Steyn has more time to figure out which of IPL or PSL is better", Steyn trolls Indian cricket fan after IPL 2021 gets postponed

Dale Steyn trolls Indian cricket fan: The veteran South African fast bowler took a dig at an Indian fan who had taunted him in March.

Veteran South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn took a dig at an Indian cricket fan after the 14th season of the Indian Premier League got postponed due to COVID-19 earlier today.

Into the second half of its league stage, IPL 2021 had to be brought to a halt after four players of three franchises and three support staff of another franchise tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two days.

Steyn took to social media platform Twitter to not speak a lot but still troll an Indian fan who had taunted him when the sixth season of the Pakistan Super League had went through a similar fate in March. After a few players had tested positive on one day, PSL 2021 was postponed on the next day.

Steyn, 37, had received a lot of criticism when his comments on a comparison between PSL and IPL were perceived as him speaking ill of the biggest T20 tournament in the world.

“I think when you go to the IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten.

“I have found that playing in other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player,” Steyn was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan which had stirred a controversy.

How Twitterati reacted:

It was in the first week of 2021 that Steyn had made himself unavailable for IPL 2021. Steyn, who made his IPL debut for RCB in 2008, has picked 97 wickets in 95 IPL matches at an average of 25.85, an economy rate of 6.95 and a strike rate of 22.43.
