What happened to Prasidh Krishna: KKR pacer tests positive for COVID-19; 4th Knight Rider to do so

Prasidh Krishna tests positive for COVID-19: The Indian fast bowler has become the fourth Kolkata Knight Riders player to contact the virus.

India and Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has become the fourth KKR player to test positive for COVID-19.

While spinner Varun Chakravarthy and fast bowler Sandeep Warrier were the first two names to contact the virus earlier this week, New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert failed the test this morning.

Other than these four Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra and four Chennai Super Kings support staff have also tested positive for COVID-19.

“He is down with COVID-19. The results have come in and he has tested positive,” a source in the know how of the development was quoted as saying by ANI.

It was only yesterday that Krishna had been included into the Test squad as a standby player for the ICC World Test Championship final and a five-match Test series in England. Much like Saha and batsman Lokesh Rahul (acute appendicitis), Krishna’s chances of touring England will also be subject to fitness now.

Krishna, who had made his ODI debut against England in Pune earlier this year, had picked eight wickets in seven IPL 2021 matches at an average of 30.37, an economy rate of 9.16 and a strike rate of 19.87.

Representing Knight Riders since IPL 2018, Krishna has picked a total of 26 IPL wickets in 31 matches at an average of 40.15, an economy rate of 9.29 and a strike rate of 25.92.
