With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier looming, set to begin from 30th August to decide the final two teams to enter the fray of next year’s T20 World Cup, the build-up to the colossal tournament gets underway starting today. Netherlands, Thailand, Ireland and Scotland will be partaking in the Euro-Asia Quadrangular Series starting today as either side look to tune things and test out their final best combination ahead of the qualifiers.
The series to be held from 8 August to 14 August will see two sides from Europe and two from Asia partake in it, all part of the T20 World Cup qualification process. Each of the four teams will play six T20 matches, twice against each opponent as they get to test their mettle against names they’ll be squaring off against one again in the space of two weeks.
And beginning things in the series will be Netherlands and Ireland with the two sides competing against each other in the showpiece series opener. The first of two matches on the day will see two of the most promising sides from the European region be accorded a massive opportunity to showcase their cricketing acumen on the world stage in an encounter which promises to be a jaffer of a match.
Aaron Hamilton, coach of Ireland’s team said ahead of the impending match, “2019 is a big year for women’s cricket in Ireland and we want to provide our squad with the best opportunity to qualify for the T20 Women’s World Cup. As such, this new tournament is timely and the competitiveness of the four teams involved will definitely help with our preparations.”
Pitch Conditions And Toss
Expect this to be a relatively good surface for batting although the nature of this pitch is still an unknown entity given that this should be the first match of the series being played here. However given by the recent European Cricket League and ongoing Netherlands and Zimbabwe T20 series being held in the country, the surfaces laid out are usually batting conducive surfaces.
Paired with the small boundaries and ground dimensions, we should have a high scoring encounter with the side winning the toss looking to bat first in this one.

Wicket-Keepers for IR-W vs ND-W Dream11
Ireland opener Mary Waldron is our pick in the wicket-keeping slot. Over the course of the last year, she’s someone who has emerged as an instrument name for her side, encapsulating her ability with both the bat and gloves to become an invaluable player for the outfit. She went onto score 55 against West Indies ever so recently, an innings where she displayed the skill set imbued in her.
Expect her to take full advantage of the powerplay overs and score some quick fire runs for their side in this encounter. We are also picking up Netherlands’ wicket-keeper, Babette de Leede for this encounter with the wicket-keepers making for excellent value given the points they contribute with catches and stumpings as well.

Number three bat Rebecca Stokell comes in for us as well with us envisaging Ireland going onto register a healthy score in this one, a quest their top 3 will play a pivotal part of.
From Netherlands we are getting in the lone pick in the form of middle-order bat Robine Rijke given the application and technique she has. She’s been the fulcrum of her side, waging a lone battle with scores of 79, 24 and 126 in her previous three matches along with snaring up three wickets in them as well, making her enter our side without any hesitation.
A player who bears a similar identity to her from Ireland is Kim Garth. She has 6 wickets and scores of 46,45 and 51 in previous five encounters, rendering her services to us indispensible. Frontline pacer Laura Delany partners her for this match.
