IRE vs Zim Dream11 Team: Buoyed by a historic ODI series triumph, Ireland look to build on the momentum in the T20 series

While the apathy of Zimbabwe cricket is something we can keep harping about, it’s time to pass on the accolades to the Ireland cricket team. The side deserve all the laurels they won in the ODI series, coming out of the three match series with a 3-0 sweep to their name, a historic result for a side which is on the uprise in the cricketing fraternity.

Making the most of a horrid Zimbabwean side, Ireland dominated them across all the three matches, putting in a complete show with both the bat and ball to deliver a resounding series win, one that further epitomises the cricketing acumen the side possesses at the moment. And impressed more was the relentless nature of their side, not stepping down the ante despite taking an unconquerable 2-0 series win.

They put in a ruthless performance with the ball in the culminating encounter of the series, decimating a lopsided Zimbabwe batting side for just 190 runs before eventually going onto register a 6 wicket win. And they’ll be looking to build on that momentum garnered in the ODI series when they take on Zimbabwe in the first of the three match T20 series starting today.

Probable Winner

While we’ve been busy lauding Ireland, the callous nature of Zimbabwe at the moment is just too sad a one to ignore at the moment. They are arguably at their lowest since having entered the cricketing arena, losing 5 of their 6 international one day series along with the cricket board in the country under threat of being suspended by the ICC.

What has further compounded their problems is the fact that they have failed to implore and rectify the batting mistakes which have seen them being wiped out by teams. We don’t see them improving in the T20 format as well, coming fresh off a 2-0 T20 series defeat against Netherlands. Ireland will register a comprehensive win today and win this one easily.

Wicket-Keeper for IRE vs Zim Dream11

We’ve opted for Ireland’s Lorcan Tucker over here after he put in a stellar showing with the bat in the two ODI matches he was asked to come out and dole his services in.

Batsmen for IRE vs Zim Dream11

Ireland’s most flawless, experienced and effortless bat, Paul Stirling is our first pick for this match. The most instrumental member of their batting line-up, the opener was amongst the runs once again in the final ODI as he went onto score a steady 32 runs and put on an opening stand of 60 runs.

We’ve paired him alongside number three batsman Andrew Balbirnie. With William Porterfield and James McCollum not selected for this series, Andrew’s clean hitting abilities will be quissential to Ireland’s cause of piling on a hefty score in this one. From Zimbabwe it’s the sole selection of Craige Ervine, their highest run getter over the course of the last year.

All-Rounders for IRE vs Zim Dream11

A T20 encounter always sees us opt for the maximum number of players from the all-rounders’ facet with the facet offering a magnitude of points in the shortest format of the game. And it’s a trio of players who are being divulged into by us from Ireland with their mainstays Mark Adair, Ryan Burl and Shane Getkate all coming in for us.

From Zimbabwe its only Sean Williams who finds a place in our Dream 11 side for the opening match. His 63 run innings in the final ODI saw him emerge as the only player to score in excess of 50 from their side and we see him doing the same again.

Bowling Order for IRE vs Zim Dream11

Given the horrid nature of this Zimbabwe batting side, expect wickets to tumble at will once again when they step out to bat in the middle. And it’s this narrative which has seen us opt for Boyd Rankin and George Dockrell, two pacers who we see amassing a bagful of points for us today.

From Zimbabwe we have their stoutheaded pacer, Kyle Jarvis completing our side for the match.

Captain And Vice-Captain

Paul Stirling is chosen as our side’s captain for this match while Shane Getkate is our vice-captain.
