ISL transfers: Kerala Blasters forward CK Vineeth signs for Jamshedpur FC

VK Vineeth has signed for the Indian Super League club Jamshedpur FC.

Jamshedpur FC have confirmed the signing of the striker CK Vineeth. The Kannur-born forward has signed a one-year contract, committing with the Indian Super League outfit for the 2019/20 season.

The Indian International is a seasonal campaigner in the Indian tournament, having played for Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC beforehand. Before signing for the Malabarian club, Vineeth used to play for Bengaluru FC in the I-League, where he made a big name for himself.

With over 200 appearances in the I-League and Indian Super League, his experience and winning mentality will be crucial for Jamshedpur, says new head coach Antonio Iriondo.

“Vineeth is a proven player. He has a winning mentality that reflects not just in his work ethic but also his trophy cabinet. His versatility is always a threat in front of the opponent goal, which adds tremendous value to our squad composition. I look forward to working with him.” said Iriondo.

CK Vineeth spent the latter part of last season with Chennaiyin FC after a small altercation with his hometown club. He appeared in the Indian Super League and Super Cup, scoring four goals from 17 appearances for the two-time Champions. Vineeth found the back of the net in the Super Cup final, but it did not come as an aid as FC Goa won the encounter in a convincing fashion.

The forward divulges about his excitement to pair up with the new club. He is anticipated to pair up with his new teammates for the pre-season training in mid-September.

In the official website, he was quoted: “It’s an exciting opportunity for me to come to play for Jamshedpur. I have been here twice whilst playing for Kerala Blasters in the last two seasons and the atmosphere at The Furnace was absolutely brilliant. It’s a highly challenging space and ground for any opposing team and it will be exciting to be on the other side this season. I want to put my best foot forward and contribute as much as I can for the team and bring out the finest of my game to this awesome city and club.”

CK Vineeth becomes the first signing in the forward department following the additions of the likes of Piti, Keegan Pereira, Noe Acosta, and Sergio Castel.
