Tottenham are said to be scouring for a new manager

Despite being heavily backed by Daniel Levy, Jose Mourinho’s time at Tottenham looks to be nearing its final rites. The 3-0 defeat in the Europa League is believed to be one defeat too many with many at the club growing irked with Mourinho’s style of football.

Although Mourinho has a colossal contract at the club, the Premier League side is said to be extremely eager to snap ties with him. The club has reportedly also drawn up a list of managers to replace Mourinho, one which includes Rafael Benitez, Steven Gerrard, Julian Nagelsmann and Diego Simeone.

According to The Athletic, its RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann who currently spearheads Tottenham’s wish list. The manager’s sensational showings in the Bundesliga have seen him rise in stature across the last couple of years to make Tottenham stand up and take notice of his genius.

And in what will come as a massive shot in the arm to Tottenham’s aspirations, Nagelsmann admitted that he would be willing to switch to the Premier League.

Nagelsmann Aspires To Emulate Klopp

While Julian Nagelsmann was quick to admit that he wouldn’t be lured out of the RB Leipzig job till his current deal, he also agreed that the Premier League was a dream for him.

“I have a contract now until 2023 so I think I will stay in Leipzig,” said Nagelsmann in a recent interview.

“The Premier League is a very interesting league and I can imagine it could be a big aim to be a big manager in the Premier League one day like Jurgen who is very successful.

“It could be a step in the future.”

“But, you know, in soccer it’s not that easy to plan ‘how long will you be a manager in Leipzig? When will you go to the Premier League?’ I could imagine going to the Premier League,” he added.

“I could imagine staying as a manager in the Bundesliga for my whole career. It’s cool to be a manager in my own country. I love it.

“But then perhaps in the future we can meet face-to-face in the Premier League, who knows.”
