Arsenal Transfer News : The club has decided to let go off the defender
Ahead of the January transfer window, Mikel Arteta had stressed upon the need to cut the scissors on Arsenal’s squad. With the club lined up with a string of players no longer considered as requirements under the Spanish manager’s reign, the Premier League side was said to be working on deals to let go off a multitude of names.
Having seen Sead Kolasinac depart to Schalke and Mesut Ozil move to Fenerbache, Arsenal have now managed to get another outcast off their books. The club has reached a deal to terminate defender, Sokratis’ contract at the deal.
Arsenal Part Company With Sokratis
Having been left on the periphery by Arteta ever since his arrival, Sokratis has failed to feature for the club in the Premier League this term. Considered surplus to requirements, the club has decided to pay Sokratis a part of his remaining contract and relieve him off his duties at the club with immediate effect.
The trimming is set to carry on unabated at Arsenal with the club in dire need of easing its finances. The club is said to be in an extremely tight spot when it comes to money with the Coronavirus pandemic having bled the club dry of money.
With any serious moves for interested players all hinging on the amount of money opened up with departures, Arsenal are slated to work over time to ensure that unwanted players are offloaded at the earliest plausible.
The club has meanwhile managed to overhaul its underachieving form. The club’s 3-0 trouncing of Newcastle United was the team’s fifth successive match without a defeat, a result which took the club all the way into 10th place in the points tally.
Having assuaged fears of being embroiled in the relegation brawl this season, the club will next be looking to further progress in the FA Cup as it prepares for its impending showdown at the weekend.
