Jose Mourinho 2 times the new Tottenham manager mocked Spurs

#1) Willian Medical

Back in 2013, the then Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas desperately wanted to have William in his side. He had tried to purchase the player from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier both as Chelsea and Tottenham manager. Unfortunately for him, the player was sold to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.

However, following Anzhi’s decision to rein in their spending, Willian was placed on the market. Liverpool were the first to make contact but it seemed that the player was headed to Tottenham after he had completed a medical with them.

However, it was later revealed that Chelsea had hijacked Tottenham’s primary transfer target. Mourinho revealed that the player still had to undergo a medical with Chelsea as well and then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was very confident that the Brazilian would join the Blues instead.

He accused them of making a fatal mistake by not managing to keep details of the player’s medical a secret before Chelsea swooped to steal him from under their noses.

“That’s the danger of medicals before contracts” Mourinho said mockingly. The best thing you can do is do the medical in secret.”

When asked how confident he was at getting Willian, Mourinho said:

“That’s a good question because I think he already made his decision,” before nodding gleefully when asked if it was Chelsea.

Daniel Levy and all of Tottenham at the time believed that the signing was made for the sole reason of keeping the player away from Spurs. However, both Mourinho and Chelsea categorically denied the accusation.

This man has now been given the reigns by Daniel Levy. Will Tottenham fans now call him ‘The Special one’?
