JUST IN: New ICC T20 Rankings have been released
Babar Azam and Mitchell Santner are the new incumbents of the number 1 ranking(batsman and bowler respectively) in the ICC”s new T20I rankings.
Babar Azam had a brilliant T20 series against New Zealand, where he was the leading run-scorer(109 runs) and thus jumped 11 spots to occupy the number 1 spot. Azam leads Finch(who is currently in number 2 spot) by 2 points.
Mitchell Santer bowled exceptionally well in the New Zealand-Pakistan series, replacing his team-mate Ish Sodhi to become the world number 1 T20 bowler.
Santner picked up 4 wickets in the 3 match series, giving away just 69 runs in his 12 overs. Seems like CSK pulled off a master stroke at yesterday’s IPL auction.
Batsmen(Indian)
Virat Kohli sits pretty at the number 3 spot in the rankings, with KL Rahul being the only other Indian in the Top 10. Both of them will have a chance of elevating their ranking in the upcoming T20 series against South aFRICA.
Rohit Sharma is the next highest ranked Indian(Ranked 15) followed by MS Dhoni, who is ranked 35th.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the next highest ranked player(ranked 16), followed by R Ashwin, who is ranked 30th.
The Indian contingent would be hoping to better their T20 I rankings in the 3 match T20 series against South Africa, along with getting some much needed practice for the upcoming IPL.
