The Napoli defender has been linked with a move to the Catalan club in the past.

Kalidou Koulibaly has impressed many European heavyweights with his performances for club and country this season. While the 27-year old star has been a consistent performer for Napoli ever since he arrived at the club four years ago, he has also been solid at the back for Senegal.

In March, Argentine legend Diego Maradona said that Koulibaly should be playing for clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona. In an interview with SoFoot, the Senegalese defender has responded to Maradona’s comments.

“I will leave that to the presidents to decide, I just try to do my best on and off the pitch,” Koulibaly said.

According to Spanish reports, Barcelona are interested in signing the defender. ” My objective is to be in the top five, but I still have room to grow,” he said.

“This season I scored five goals, which is difficult for a defender, but I want more next season. I like to watch my games back to see the errors I made,” stated Koulibaly.

The Napoli defender also talked about Senegal’s chances in the World Cup. “We’re capable of the best and the worst. You have to have confidence in yourself but not too much,” he said.

Senegal and Japan are currently leading the Group H of the World Cup with four points each, and the African nation is set to play Colombia in their final match. While Senegal merely needs a point to secure a round-of-16 berth, the South American nation faces a do-or-die situation.
