Kepa embarrassingly scores own goal after Hakim Ziyech free kick hits him in the face

Kepa embarrassingly scores own goal after Hakim Ziyech free kick hits him in the face as Ajax pile the misery on Chelsea during their Champions league clash.

Ajax have been extremely dominant since their loss to Tottenham in the Champions league last season. Since their heart-breaking elimination, the Dutch side have only lost once since. Unfortunately, the defeat came at the hands of yet another London club at home.

Ajax have however, come to London with the full brunt of the strength and skill that swept Europe last season. The Dutch Champions have thoroughly outplayed the home team to end the first half with the score 3-1.

Chelsea have conceded three goals in the first half of a Champions League game for the first time in their history. Interestingly, 2 of the 3 goals have been rewarded as own goals, which means that Ajax have scored thrice, despite only registering one shot on target. Chelsea keeper Kepa however, will want to forget that the 3rd goal ever happened considering the role he played in it.

Alonso’s needless push near the corner flag earned Ajax a free kick in the 35th minute. Hakim Ziyech took the spot kick and put in an unbelievable hit. The ball was smashed high and curled above Kepa. The ball found the far post before hitting Kepa in the face and finding its way in.

Hilarious viewing if you’re a neutral and heart-breaking for Chelsea fans. A little harsh on Ziyech to not be given the goal though. However, he will not mind as long as Ajax walks away from London with 3 points to their name.

Earlier in the match, Tammy Abraham’s own goal gave Ajax the lead in the 2nd minute. However, Chelsea crawled their way back into the match after Jorginho equalised from a penalty just 2 minutes later. Unfortunately, that was the last time the Blues would celebrate in the match.

Ziyech would once again spell doom for Chelsea, exhibiting excellent vision to find Quincy Promes with one glance. He curled a cross to Promes, who sneaked behind Azpilicueta to find the ball and put it past Kepa to give Ajax the lead.
