"Kevin Durant gave us a Mt. Rushmore performance": Allen Iverson, Magic Johnson pay the ultimate compliments after the Nets star's 49-point game 5

Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant puts on a performance for the ages and receives praise from greats like Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson

The Brooklyn Nets are back to their winning ways. After losing Games 3 and 4 in Milwaukee, getting back to Brooklyn changed the tide of the series yet again. While in Milwaukee, the Bucks fought their way back into the series and leveled it at two apiece. The lead was up for grabs in Game 5, and the Bucks had the momentum to grab it. However, Kevin Durant had different plans.

After a miserable 4th quarter in Game 4, KD bounced back strong in Game 5. In the absence of Kyrie Irving, and the return of James Harden, Durant took all the pressure on his shoulders. He carried the team to a win past the Bucks and get the Nets their lead back. Kevin Durant finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 49 points, grabbing 17 boards, and dishing 10 assists.

KD had a playoff performance that would go down in the history books. Despite making his way back from an Achilles injury, KD played the entire 48 minutes of the game, and carried his team to the dub.

Magic Johnson was so impressed by Durant, he felt like this performance was worthy of Mount Rushmore.

On the other hand, ‘The Answer’ kept it simple in his praise for Kevin Durant. Allen Iverson put up this tweet after the game.

While it would be foolish to assume KD would repeat performance of this caliber in Game 6, the Nets would still need something special from him if they want to wrap up the series in Milwaukee itself. Game 6 of the series takes place on Thursday.
