KKR vs DC Man of the Match: Delhi Capitals star batsman was awarded the Man of the Match for his splendid knock vs KKR.

Chasing a 179-run target, Delhi Capitals’ batsmen played extremely well to seal the chase with seven balls remaining. The win has now promoted Capitals at No. 4 in the points table.

After Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put Knight Riders in to bat, the hosts scored 178/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Shubman Gill, who was promoted to open the batting tonight, top-scored for KKR scoring 65 (39) with the help of seven fours and two sixes.

Opening the batting with Prithvi Shaw (14), Dhawan was unperturbed with a couple of wickets falling in the powerplay. The southpaw has to be credited for taking minimal chances throughout his innings. Dhawan was majorly seen working the ball in the gaps for boundaries, which ended up becoming the highlight of his innings.

Remaining unbeaten till the end, Dhawan ended up scoring 97* (63) with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. Despite missing his maiden IPL century, the southpaw was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Dhawan opened up on how he kept the team’s victory above his personal milestone. “Yeah, I knew it could be my first T20 hundred but I also knew that the team goal was more important, which is why I looked for a single rather than a big shot in the end,” Dhawan was quoted as saying.
