KL Rahul at Number 4: Twitter wants Rahul to bat at Number 4 in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

KL Rahul at Number 4: Twitter seems to have found their No. 4 batsman in the Indian cricket team ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

During the ongoing warm-up match for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Bangladesh and India at Cardiff, India batsman Lokesh Rahul’s innings has convinced users on social media platform Twitter that he is apt to bat at No. 4 in the tournament.

After Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and put India in to bat, India lost opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (1) in the third over.

Despite Vijay Shankar taking part in this match, the team management persisted with Rahul at No. 4. Having come in to bat after the dismissal of vice-captain Rohit Sharma (19) in the 14th over, Rahul shared a 33-run stand for the third wicket with captain Virat Kohli (47).

Once Kohli got out, Rahul took the onus on himself to guide the Indian innings. Batting at 8* (15) at that moment, Rahul hit three fours in the next three overs to ensure that runs keep coming. In the presence of former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul started to attack the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The best part of Rahul’s innings was that he played the ball on its merit throughout his stay in the middle. Even the attacking shots didn’t give the impression of being attempts for forceful slogs.

On the last delivery of the 26th over, Rahul ran a couple of runs down the ground to complete his half-century. In the 31st over, Rahul took on Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hitting him for a couple of fours and a six.

It was on the last delivery of the 42nd over that Rahul ran a single off Mustafizur Rahman to complete his century. The single was accompanied by Rahul receiving a standing ovation from the dressing room. Before getting out in the 44th over, Rahul ended up scoring 108 (99) with the help of 12 fours and four sixes.
