Laurent Koscielny on comeback

Laurent Koscielny on comeback: Laurent Koscielny has posted a message on his comeback to Arsenal.

Arsenal ended the group stage of the Europa League with a win over Qarabag. The Gunners registered a 1-0 win over the Azerbaijan side.

The side’s first-team captain, Laurent Koscielny also made his comeback after suffering from an achilles injury. Koscielny faced the injury last season, and was yet to make his first appearance under Unai Emery before yesterday’s game.

Alexandre Lacazette scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute to secure a win for the side. With this victory, Arsenal finish the Europa League group stage at the top, with 16 points from 6 games. Unai Emery’s side remained unbeaten in their group, which included Sporting Lisbon, Qarabag and Vorskla.

Koscielny had a message for the fans after the win against Qarabag.

Koscielny on comeback:

Laurent Koscielny stated that he was awaiting his comeback and thanked the fans for their support.

“Hello everyone – thank you very much for your support tonight,” Koscielny said.

“For me it was an important day and I’m happy to share it with you.”

Koscielny made his comeback to football earlier in the season when he played for Arsenal’s U23s against Derby County. He also appeared for Arsenal’s youth side in the Checkatrade trophy, but was forced to limp-off the field towards the end of the game.

However, it was later confirmed that Koscielny was substituted with cramps. He was included on the bench for the Premier League game against Huddersfield, but was not introduced on the field.

The centre-back missed the World Cup in Russia with injury, and announced his international retirement earlier in the season. He also revealed in August that he might leave Arsenal at the end of his contract at the club, which expires in 2020.

Here’s how fans reacted to Koscielny’s comeback:

Arsenal will return to the Premier League on Sunday as they take on the relegation-threatened Southampton. The Gunners will then take on Spurs in the League Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday.

The two rivals met earlier in the month in the season’s first North London derby, where Arsenal emerged 4-2 winners.
