Koulibaly to Barcelona

Kaildou Koulibaly to Barcelona: Barcelona scout Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and his agent hint at Barca move.

Barcelona are going through a central defensive crisis at the moment. The Catalan giants lost one of their key defenders, Samuel Umtiti to injury. It is being reported that the French defender could be out of action for the next 4-6 months. Gerard Pique has not hit form since the beginning of the season, and the likes of Clement Lenglet and Thomas Vermaelen are deprived of enough first-team action.

Barcelona’s shortcomings in their defence is reflective in their La Liga performances. Ernesto Valverde’s side might be first in the table, but have only scored 14 points from seven matches.

And so, the Catalan clubs has entered the transfer market for a central defender. Yesterday, it was reported that Barcelona are eyeing the signature of Kurt Zouma from Everton. Today, Barca are linked with another defender.

Kalidou Koulibaly to Barcelona:

The Napoli defender has been linked with Barcelona since the beginning of the summer transfer window. Koulibaly was immense in Napoli’s victory over Liverpool in the Champions League this week, and Football Italia reports that Barca officials were present to scout the defender.

His agent has also spoken on Koulibaly’s future. He insisted that Koulibaly can join any European giant on his form and skills.

“Kalidou can play for any team in the world, be it Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. He recently renewed his contract, but we’re seeing that Pique isn’t going through a good spell at Barcelona,” said Bruno Satin, his agent.

In the past, it has been reported that a few Premier League sides were interested in the signature of the defender, but were put of by a high asking price. According to the Italian media outlet, Napoli asked 100 million euros for the signature of the defender.

What next?

Barcelona will face an away trip to Valencia in the La Liga this weekend, where they will look to take a three-point lead over their arch-rivals Real Madrid. The Los Blancos slumped to another defeat this weekend where they lost 1-0 through a late winner against Deportivo Alaves.

Real Madrid are goalless in their last four matches.
