Kubica to replace Stroll at Singapore GP, confirms Karun Chandhok
Kubica to replace Stroll at Singapore GP confirms Karun Chandhok in an apparent broadcasting goofup.
With the Force India saga finally coming to an end, it is time for F1 to shift its focus to the remaining grand prix and the driver market.
Ricciardo had triggered the driver market earlier this month, when he announced his shock departure from Red Bull. The market got a little more interesting when Alonso announced his departure from the sport itself.
Both teams have filled the vacant seats, with Sainz moving to McLaren and Gasly getting that upgrade from Toro Rosso to Red Bull.
However, a lot of other deals and spots are yet to be sealed.
Lawrence Stroll buying Racing Point Force India is going to have massive implications in the market, as Lance Stroll is all set to move to Force India. Reports suggest that that move could happen this year itself, as Force India want Stroll to work with the team on the 2019 development part.
In the Channel 4 coverage from FP1 today, Karun Chandhok just confirmed that Lance Stroll could be at Force India at the Singapore GP, with Kubica set to get promoted to the Williams seat.
The footage wasn’t shown on TV and apparently was broadcasted accidentally on the online stream.
If what Chandhok has been hearing is indeed true, we could see Kubica finally get back on the grid once again, a moment that Kubica, his family and all his fans would dearly cherish.
With these two drivers set to get a new seat for next season, it will be interesting to see how the other half of the driver market would function in the days to come.
Sergio Perez seems to be in line for a Force India renewal, but both Ocon and Vandoorne have pretty uncertain futures ahead of them.
