Manchester City clinched the Community Shield via Penalties 5-4. Everyone but Liverpool’s Wijnaldum scored. Regardless, it was still a brilliant display from Liverpool who performed way better than what they had done all pre-season long.

Manchester City looked menacing in the start, scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute through a former Red, Raheem Sterling. Liverpool equalized in the second half when Joel Matip headed a cross from Van Dijk in the 77th minute. After that, Liverpool seemed the likelier of the two to head home with the trophy. However, Kyle Walker had other plans.
Surely Jurgen Klopp will not mind the loss. His boys played exciting football and showed that when push comes to shove, they will stand ready. Besides, Klopp rates the curtain raiser as a glorified friendly anyway. Guardiola on the other hand though, won’t mind the trophy and will be glad to start the season with a thrilling victory over the European Champions.
